Spring break is a coveted time for teachers; it's the precursor to summer and provides hardworking teachers with much-needed time to relax and recharge their batteries. Yet, teachers everywhere find themselves wondering what to do during their breaks. Exotic vacations are nice, of course, but many teachers are operating on a limited budget. Consider the following budget-friendly spring break ideas for teachers:
Explore your city. Who says you have to leave town to have a fun spring break? Grab a friend or family member and spend the day exploring your city. Check out the local museums you've been wanting to visit. Try the latest drink at the nearby coffee shop. Have a picnic in the park near your house. Shop at the local mom and pop stores.
Go on a road trip. You don't have to break the bank buying a plane ticket to travel during your spring break. Instead, plan a road trip with your favorite traveling companion. Pack lots of snacks and plenty of good music. Pick an interesting destination and take the back roads to get there.
Indulge in your favorite books. There's no shame in being a homebody during your spring break. Put on your coziest pair of pajamas, make a cup of tea, and work your way through those books that have been collecting dust on your bookshelf. If you'd like, a movie marathon can follow your reading session.
Volunteer. Spring break is the perfect time to get involved in the community. Grab a couple of friends and volunteer for a cause that's close to your heart. You might consider walking dogs at an animal shelter, serving food at a kitchen for the homeless, or helping to build a new home with Habitat for Humanity.
Go camping. If you want to get in touch with nature during your spring break, go camping for a night or two. Government-owned camping sites are often more affordable than privately-owned sites. So, pack your sleeping bag and supplies to make s'mores, and head out for a night under the stars.
